Ryan McCormick of Jacksonville, FL always knew exactly what he wanted to be when he grew up. While other kids saw themselves scoring touchdowns in the NFL or becoming a high-powered attorney, Ryan’s ambitions were a little bit higher; literally! His mother Mary McCormick is a retired United States Air Force pilot, and Ryan dreamed of one day becoming an airline pilot. Many years, and a lot of hard work later, Ryan has done just that. His mother Mary came to visit him in Norfolk, VA, where he’s based. When it came time for her to fly back home to Florida, she booked the flight to be a passenger on her favorite pilot’s plane! When it came time for her flight, she was told there was a very long delay. Other passengers got tired of the wait, and booked other flights, but Mary stuck it out. Seven long hours later, Mary was finally invited to board the plane. That’s when she found out that nobody else waited for the flight! Not only did Mary get to be a passenger for the first time with her son as the pilot… she was the only passenger on board. You can bet she was treated like a queen, and she probably got all the peanuts she wanted too!
