Milwaukee bus driver Natalie Barnes was driving her route when a man came on board and told her he was newly homeless, and his home had been condemned. He asked her if he could ride the bus that night for warmth. Not only did Natalie let him stay on, but when it was time for her dinner break, she got him something to eat too. She even picked up a few things for him from the Dollar Store. If that wasn’t enough, Natalie reached out to a friend at Community Advocates to help him find a place to stay that night, and they’re working with him to find permanent housing. Natalie was recognized by the transit service with their excellence award for the third time in two years. See the video story.
