Dan Bezzant lives in Idaho Falls, ID, and is a proud father of six kids. His 7-year-old son Jackson has Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare condition that affects the development of bones and facial tissues. Dan has seen his share of Jackson getting bullied, and now he’s had enough. After a recent incident at school, Dan wrote a moving post on Facebook to help educate parents about bullying while urging them to teach their children understanding and to learn more about children with special needs. The beginning of it reads, “My heart is in pieces right now and my soul feels like it’s ripping from my chest. This beautiful young man, my son Jackson, is called ugly and freak and monster on a daily basis by his peers at school. He talks about suicide and he’s not quite eight!” No child should ever be made to feel unworthy by someone else and that’s what National Bullying Prevention Month wants every person to know.
